Dear Dr. Iadarola,
I am outraged and saddened at the decision
not to renew Coach Dzik’s contract. This has not only given the
college a black eye, but is a slap in the face to all past and
present Cabrini College students who love and respect this man, not
only as the head basketball coach, but a father figure and mentor to
every student that got to know him.
I was fortunate enough to have two of my
children graduate from Cabrini College. At Cabrini’s open house in
1994, my son, Roman met Coach Dzik. Roman decided to attend Cabrini,
not for the modern facilities, because Roman played 3 years in the
old gymnasium, but because of his initial meeting with the coach.
As the recent alumni basketball game proved,
Roman was not the only student that came to Cabrini because of Coach
Dzik. I sat in the stands with my husband and listened as the former
players were introduced. These players dated back to the 1980’s.
They were not there to play basketball, but to honor a man that gave
his all to the Cabrini community.
Coach Dzik deserves to receive his 500th win
at Cabrini College where he unselfishly dedicated his whole life.
I know I can speak for both of my children.
Michelle, Roman and I would like to be removed from any future
mailings. We can no longer support a college, nor recommend this
college to potential students, after the disgraceful way this
administration handled this situation.
As a Catholic institution, that is supposed
to teach love and respect for all, the Cabrini administration
dropped the ball on this one. May God forgive you for your
thoughtless selfish decision.
Sincerely,
Diane Gabriel
Parent of Roman (99) and Michelle (00)
